Mary Schuler (mary@educationplushealth.com), Co-Founder, MA, Specialized Trainer/Tutor, is an experienced and result-oriented Special Education teacher and tutor with over 50 years of experience in the special education field. Obtaining her B.A. in Elementary Education from the College of St. Catherine’s in St. Paul, Minnesota, and her M.A. in Special Education, Schuler taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 5th grade, and Special Education in Public School Settings. While teaching and tutoring, she discovered that solving learning problems isn’t accomplished by just requiring the students to do more schoolwork.  After working with a number of public school students for over a year, three times a week for an hour at a time, she realized that having them accomplish just one year of growth during that time would just not be enough.  As a result she developed/founded the literacy, math, and writing foundational approach resulting in hundreds of students achieving academic and life success. She now works with Parent Reading Coach to train/coach parents/teachers on the literacy, math, and writing foundational approach.

Carolyn Torres (c.torres@laschools.net), Ed D, and teacher of 32 years (19 in various grades in elementary, 12 in middle school, and 1 in high school) has remained a National Board Certified Teacher since 1995.  She completed her doctorate while teaching 3rd grade for Los Alamos Public Schools, where she has been an active mentor, teacher, and math specialist.  She was a national NSF Coalition of Essential Schools Fellow, a Master Teacher for the New Mexico Electronic Bridge Project, and she co-authored a 3rd grade CCSS-based online curriculum for Lincoln Learning Solutions.  Carolyn Torres was the 2014 New Mexico State Teacher of the Year and a 2023 NM K-8 STEMY Teacher for NM.
